Let's talk accesories.  I think it goes without saying that accesories are the maker or the breaker of any outfit.  You're just not done getting dressed until you've tried on every necklace/scarf/pair of earrings in your collection and decided which one is perfect.  Perfect = subtle, but not too boring, sparkly but not too blingy, colorful but not like a peacock.  See?  It isn't easy getting it just right!  Well gentle readers, don't fret, because help has arrived in the form of one Detroit bred fashionista.  I can point you in the right fashion direction....and today I am pointing you to Forever 21!  Although I am not a big fan of their return policy, I am a big fan of their accesories.  You can find AMAZING jewelry from about $4 to $15.  At those prices you can have as many accesories as you want to be indecisive about....

Love at Nordstrom

I fell in love today....I know, I'm married...but it's spring and love is in the air....alright fine, it was a blazer, but LOVE nonetheless!  I was standing at Nordstrom, making a return when I saw it.  Grey, soft, simple-it was begging me to come feel it (this BTW is what my husband makes fun of me for doing-touching everything in a store).  I walked over and knew that it was much more than a hunch (to the tune of "The Brady Bunch" song).  I was correct, it was worthy of my love and yours too.  It is a cotton modal blend that is perfectly slouchy and comfy-and wait until you see the back....I'll let that be a surprise!  You know how people like me say that a piece of clothing will "go with everything"?  Well, this will.

Feeling Groovy

I can't believe how long it has been since I blogged...I think I was having blogger's block :)  So many exciting things are happening in the world of Fancy Nancy-I don't even know where to begin!  The number one most important thing to share is that I AM ECSTATIC!  For those of you who know me, you know that this happens quite often-most often for small, inconsequential reasons-like, they have my favorite flavor ice cream or Sophie made her bed or Milk Duds are $1 at Kroger.  But this time the ecstatic state is lasting over a period of days and weeks!  I am so happy to be doing what I am doing...this is the job I should have been doing all of my life!  I'm happy, but more importantly my clients are happy, confident, organized and the owners of efficient and fabulous wardrobes.  This fills my heart in a way that is usually reserved for the people around my Thanksgiving table.

It was all so clear to me today as I got ready to leave my house this morning.  I looked so damn cute (I've got an image to uphold now), but of course, better than that, I felt on top of the world!  It was like ice cream, made beds and Milk Duds all rolled in to one!  I felt like I could accomplish anything and this is how my clients feel.  It's amazing the impact that looking good on the outside can have on the inside!

Vegas Baby!

Just spent some time in the desert last week and I must write about it.  What's with all of the bling??  I have never seen so much shiny, glitzy, over-blingified clothing in my life!  I'm all for a little sparkle every now and then, but this was ridiculous.  Maybe it is the lack of water that makes people thirst for this excess-maybe it's the false perception of wealth that one gets after a good run on a blackjack table.  Whatever the case, it made it difficult for me to shop with any accuracy as the sequins were constantly blinding my vision.  Luckily, I was able to make it out with 2 shirts from one of my favorite stores.  One was an updated version of a drapey, buttonless cardigan that I look forward to wearing with a white tank top and the aforementioned boyfriend jeans.  The other is a long blouse with VERTICAL stripes (not horizontal please, unless you just got back from an exhausting week modeling the fall 2010 lines at Bryant Park) and pockets that will look great with jeans and leggings, belted or not.  Speaking of the boyfriend jeans....I just got a new pair and you won't believe where....TARGET (Tar-jhay)!  They are ridiculously cute and cost all of $40-I know, kind of expensive for Target :)

Also wanted to tell you about some fabbie shoes I tried on at Nordstrom in Vegas.  They are called Woodies by Jeffrey Campbell and they were cute as hell, but so high that I simply could not walk in them.  For some of you who have more stable ankles than I, these may work.  They also broke my cardinal rule of fashion- "Can I wear them to Kroger?"  Yet I wanted to tell you about them because they are totally awesome and would be a lovely addition to the spring/summer wardrobe of the fashionable and stable-ankled amongst you.

Two words people.  No, really a letter and a word.....J CREW!!!  I was shopping for a client today (what I like to call a business trip to Easton) and went in to see their spring collection.  I was blown away-absolutely beautiful!  The colors were light and soft.  It was like walking into an ice cream shop!  There were so many ruffles that I didn't know where to look first.  Ruffles on sweaters, tank tops, t-shirts, jackets and dresses.  There was a lot of khaki and EVERYTHING was rolled-pant bottoms, sleeves on blouses and sweaters and even shorts.  The jackets were shorter and fitted with really interesting details. The look was casual, comfortable and flattering.  Nothing was too tight or too short, just very wearable.  I attached pictures of some of my favorite looks. The lavender shirt incorporates everything I love in a shirt-soft, ruffles and it comes in a shade of purple!  The belt is truly the belt of the season-skinny and studded.  Hope you enjoy the Fancy Nancy recommendations!

Have a fabulously fashionable day!

I am sitting home for the FOURTH day in a row with a sick child and in between the temperature taking and general caretaking I am dreaming about SUMMER!!!  This might also have something to do with the 10 inches of snow on the ground...but I digress...back to fashion.

Just wanted to share a pic of these adorable sandals.  Dump those boring flip-flops and "step" into something much more fashionable.  I think shoes like these could put anyone in the mood for sitting outside with the warm sun on your back enjoying a grapetini with a sugar rim (a Fancy Nancy fave)!  Ahhhhhh, a girl can dream can't she??  This sandal comes in brown and gray which are both great neutrals that will go with all of the exciting new trends for spring 2010.  I am rather partial to the gray myself, but that's just moi.  Now here is the best part....are you ready??  They are from the Gap and are $34.50!!!!  What a perfect way to jump start your spring/summer wardrobe and at such an affordable price!  Now I can start dreaming about what color to paint my toenails......

Enjoy!

Can we please discuss tassels?? Ok good, because they are not just for your furniture and drapes anymore!! Tassels happen to be the newest look for earrings. Kate Hudson wore them at the Golden Globes with that amazing white, structured, strapless dress and they were the perfect finishing touch. Well, I just saw the most beautiful pair and had to share. At $350 they are a little pricey, but this style can be found in all different price ranges. Start looking and you will see them everywhere! The great thing is that I think they will look FAB with dressy looks and just as FAB with jeans. You know, in a "I'm so cool I can wear my tassels with anything" sort of way.

Have a fabulously fashionable day....and wear your tassel earrings to the grocery store!

p.s. Check out a friend's website.  She is an unbelievably talented beader and jewelry maker-julieglasser.com.  Maybe we should encourage her to try tassels......
